We are a small company consisting of a highly efficient bookkeeper, and an easy to talk to accountant who uses plain English to explain tax compliance. This makes for a professional team who can cover all your accounting needs. We are members of the New Zealand Bookkeepers Association, the Accountants and Tax Agents of New Zealand, and the New Zealand Payroll Practitioners Association. We thrive on keeping up to date with tax laws. We even have a good relationship with our Inland revenue community compliance officer!

We pride ourselves in getting to know our clients and their business, and this enables us to form valued partnerships with all our clients. We understand that each business is unique and requires varying levels of assistance, be it bookkeeping services, annual tax returns or just general queries around tax compliance.

About us

We are a team of number crunchers that enjoy making use of clever software. We are enthusiastic and passionate about accounts. Although at this stage, you may be thinking, “how exciting can accounts be?”; but for us we thrive on being a little nerdy. Don’t get us wrong, we know how to have fun too.

Meet the team

Penny Mercer

Penny has always worked with accounts. Penny started out as a certified bookkeeper and grew into the role of an accounting software specialist in the IT Industry. She even dabbled in management for a few years as the practice manager for a large medical centre in Christchurch, until she renewed her passion with accounts and opened Lyttelsoft in 2011. Penny’s skill comes from experience and constantly educating herself. She is currently studying to be a forensic accountant.

Carly Coxon

Carly’s passion is bookkeeping. She has always had this passion, even as a kid her dad would let her help balance his books. Carly joined Lyttelsoft in 2019, after having enjoyed a career in hospitality. This makes her understand a large percentage of our clients pain points. After all, who does not tell the local bar lady everything? Due to her commitment and knowledge Carly has recently been made a shareholder in the company after achieving her bookkeeping certification. She is considered a valuable asset to the Lyttelsoft team. Carly enjoys interacting with clients and is currently studying towards her Payroll Practitioner certification.

Carly’s work towards her professional development has paid off with her recently winning “Emerging bookkeeper of the year”. We are super proud of her!

There are a number of exemptions from these rules, so please contact us if you are unsure, or see the https://www.classic.ird.govt.nz/forms-guides/number/forms-200-299/ir268-guide-entertainment-expenses.html booklet for more information.
